Road to Louvain
Before occupying Brussels the Germans took Louvain, the key to the capital . The Kaisers troops had, however "hack their way through," for though hopelessly outnumbered the Belgians resisted the invaders advance with desperate courage, thus enabling the main army to fall back towards Antwerp. Our picture shows: Belgian troops waiting for the German advance behind a barricade on the road to Louvain, August 19th 1914
