Cleansing Team Leader at Stoke -on-Trent council Shaun O'Reilly collecting rubbish in Bentilee
Residents and businesses will be encouraged to join a clear up in Bentilee and Ubberley to make the area look nicer.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is sending a team of staff to the neighbourhood on 10-11 May. The event will see road and pavement sweepers, gulley suckers, bin wagon, litter picking, fly-tipping and grass cutting teams working in the area.
Councillor Carl Edwards, cabinet member for housing and environment, said: ?his is another one of our popular action days where we ?it?a particular area with a team of staff from various services.
?esidents will spot some big vehicles in the area including a road sweeper and a gully tanker to clear the drains. A bin wagon is going to tour the streets where residents can throw any rubbish into it.
?ur grounds teams will be out with their lawn mowers and strimmer to cut the grass. We would love to see local businesses help by clearing up their local area and residents join in by picking up any litter they see while out walking.
?he big message is to work together to take pride in our city and help us to make it look its best at all times. A serious message from the day will see our fly-tipping team carry out enforcement action and issue fines.?
Councillor Stephen Funnell, Bentilee and Ubberley Ward, said: ?t? fantastic to see the action days come to Bentilee and Ubberley. This is a great opportunity to not just clean up our local area but to encourage residents to help keep it looking great.?
Councillor Sheila Pitt, Bentilee and Ubberley Ward said: ?he action days will see several council teams in Bentilee and Ubberley. It would be brilliant to see lots of people get involved in helping our local area look its best.?

100522Ashley Collins
Ashley Collins is a former chef and barista from Swansea who always wanted to set up a mobile cafe van that was solar powered. She taught herself electronics and how to draw power from solar panels by researching online and watching YouTube videos. She went full time and launched Flynn's Coffee in the first lockdown 2020. Since first starting researching solar power in 2017, Ashley finally achieved her goal last month.
She can now run her barista equipment from solar power alone using solar panels which she places at the side of her van to charge her leisure batteries while she sells coffee
