Elizabeth? Group in partnership with Congleton Town Council unvieled a statue of Elizabeth Wolstenholme Elmy, a nationally important woman who lived in Congleton, Cheshire for much of her life. Elizabeth led the campaigns for girls?education, for women to have rights within marriage, including owning property and having custody of their children, and women? rights to vote.
The statue has been made by the award-winning sculptor Hazel Reeves who was also responsible for the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst which stands in Manchester
