Karim in the Post Office press office.

I would be delighted to invite you to the official opening of Allanton Post Office on Friday 4 March at 1pm. Allanton Post Office is the first like-for-like replacement for a CJ Lang branch after they announced last year that they were closing 31 counters.

The full address for the branch is Premier DB Retail at Damside Allanton, 260 Allanton Road, Allanton ML7 5AQ.

Looking at the map, it? a 30 minute train journey from Glasgow station to Hartwood station and then a 25 minute walk or 5 minute taxi journey to the new Post Office.

The local MP and MSP (both SNP) are scheduled to officially open the branch.

There will be an opportunity to speak to the Postmaster and / or the Branch Manager (the Postmaster is abroad on holiday at the moment so at the moment, not confirmed if they will be there on the day).

I don? know if this is something you would normally cover or you can share with a colleague?

This is the first permanent, like-for-like replacement and comes well under a year since CJ Lang? sudden decision to close 31 branches.
Post Office is committed to finding solutions for communities where CL Lang previously operated.
This is a brand new convenience store in a space that was formerly Damside Inn which will host the Post Office counter
The local community are benefitting from this new store which also enables customers to order meat from a local butcher, buy fresh cakes and pastries and locally produced ready-made meals
There is no caf? for three miles and there will soon be somewhere for the community to gather for a coffee and for the many lorry drivers and people on long journeys to have a well-earned break when a caf? opens soon. The shop and caf? will offer a wide choice of food to take away.
