Easter Eggsplore event in the releif halls Bourtreehill
Press release from Alison Muir
Mission Pioneer for Crossing Together the only employed member of the team but with a committed small team of volunteers who help the magic happen. Crossing Together is a Church of Scotland Project which has been set up last year in and around the Bourtreehill area working out of the Relief Mission Halls. Crossing Together is supported by two local churches - Dreghorn and Springside Parish Church, Dreghorn and Mure Relief Church, Irvine. The vision is to establish a new Church that intentionally brings all generations together to share activities, experiences and worship. We want everyone's experience of Church to be positive, encouraging and enabling. We have established a free Tea and Toast Drop In on a Monday between 9.15am and 11.15am where everyone is welcome for a free cuppa and toast along with a friendly chat. At the Tea and Toast Drop In we have books from the closure of Bourtreehill Library that people can borrow as we know the closure of services is impacting on the community. We also have a Walk and Talk Group on a Wednesday morning, meeting at the Relief Mission Halls at 9.30am and on return to the building we have a cuppa and treat. We have also had a few events last year, a Candlelit Parade and a souper Saturday but it was a challenge within the rules of covid to gather people and show love and kindness but more events like today's Easter Eggsplore will be happening over the months ahead. All the activities and events are free as it is important that everyone can be involved. Our key aim in all aspects of Crossing Together is to show everyone God loves them through being kind and caring and reaching out to all. At today's event people came from all around Irvine. We had a craft zone, a story zone, as well as a quiet area for reflection and we also investigated outdoors with a scavenger hunt and a disco in the carpark. There was lots to do for everyone, the young and not so young. Everyone turned up to explore Easter and left with full tummies and big smiles after making new friends and enjoying the company which has been missed very much during the pandemic. A huge thank you goes to Tesco Extra, Irvine for donating some refreshments for the event and to members of the supporting congregations for making soup and cakes the spread was great. Crossing Together runs on donations and fundraising so having the support of local businesses and people is such a blessing. The event raised everyone's spirits and put a smile on all of our faces as well as an injection of faith and the knowledge that Crossing Together cares for the people of Irvine. We plan to have more activites and events which we will share on the Crossing Together facebook page so everyone can follow us and keep updated.
