Lollipop lady, Linda Cree, hung up her stick for the last time on Friday September 24

after seven and a half years in the role. Come rain or shine, Linda was out every school morning and afternoon helping the school's children cross the road to and from school safely. Even though she's hanging up her lollipop stick, things won't be slowing down for the grandmother of three, who told the Standard she didn't have a free weekend between now and Christmas. Linda is looking forward to spending more time with her friends and family, particularly her three grandchildren who she says will keep her on her toes. Children and staff marked the occasion by presenting the much loved crossing guard with a bouquet of flowers and a memory book of her time at the school

A charity leg wax was held in aid of Macmillan Cancer at The Twisted Yarn wool shop in Longton. The event was organised by owner Sue Hayfield and raised over ?400.
Sue said "We just thought we'd raise some money for Macmillan as I'm a cancer survivor and we also have a lady who comes to our Knit & Natter group who is currently fighting cancer"
Pictured braving the wax are Neil Carr (red hair) and Paul Ross with Nicola Barros and Connie Brown (green t-shirt) doing the honours
