Launched into many years of mourning by his untimely death, Queen Victoria named buildings up and down the country in his honour, including our own.
Albert? Schloss celebrates the beloved Prince? values every day and all night long. We?e built a retreat from the modern world where we invite you to discover new things, celebrate one another, and revel in the w?nder of our Schloss. Photo Opportunity: The Lord Mayor will officially open Dougie Mac? Megastore on Federation Road,
Burslem, at 10am on Thursday 16 th September.
One of Burslem? biggest and best kept secrets is about to get even bigger as Dougie Mac prepares to officially
open its first ever Megastore on 16 th September.
Dougie Mac? current shop, on Federation Road, is about to double in size as the charity takes on the adjoining
unit - the former Funsters indoor play centre.
The new unit gives Dougie Mac the capacity to increase its extensive range of products and will sell an
enormous selection of great quality, affordable furniture, including sofas, beds, dining room sets and
wardrobes. Plus there will also be a fantastic selection of clothes, books, children? toys and household items
on offer, all at great value prices.
Liz Clarke, Head of Retail at Dougie Mac, said, ?ur Burslem shop is something of a hidden gem, as the huge
space is full of thousands of fantastic items and every week we welcome hundreds of customers through the
doors. When the opportunity came along to expand in to the unit next door, we jumped at the chance, and
now we can? wait to open Dougie Mac? first ever Megastore which is bigger and better than ever and
covering around 8,000 square feet.?The first part of the new shop will be laid out in room settings to showcase the fantastic choice of furniture,
homeware and electricals available. Shoppers will follow a one way system which leads them through the
room layouts before taking them in to the second part of the shop which will continue to sell a vast selection
of clothing, shoes, sports accessories, books and other homeware items.
Liz added, ?he way we?e laid out our Burslem store is a bit different to our usual charity shops, mainly
because the sheer size of the space we have available means that we can be even more creative. The room
layouts give us the chance to really showcase the great quality furniture items we have on offer.
?? like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported our retail journey, staff, volunteers, shoppers
and of course we couldn? do it without our loyal donors. Without you a project like this, which will generate
much needed funds for our hospice, wouldn? be possible. Thank you.?Dougie Mac also offers a delivery and collection service for larger furniture
items, so if customers see something they like in the shop, it can be delivered
straight to their home, and supporters wanting to donate large items can also arrange for them to be
collected. Full details are available at
The Burslem Megastore also has a clearly marked donation point for anyone wishing to donate their unwanted
items, and with a free car park right outside the door, it couldn? be easier to shop and donate.
Dougie Mac? current Burslem shop will be closed from Monday 13 th Sept ?Wednesday 15 th Sept while work
on the project is completed. There will be an official re-opening of the Megastore on Thursday 16 th September
at 10am and everyone is welcome to come along.
A project of this size requires many pairs of hands, so if you have a morning or afternoon free and would like
to volunteer and be a part of this incredible team please get in touch.
The shop will then be open Monday ?Saturday, 9.30am ?4.30pm, Unit 4 Federation Road, Burslem, ST6 4HU.
