Petrol has gone beyond ?1.50 per litre for the first time in Birmingham.
The day after Bonfire Night, the price at Esso Holloway Head was 151.9p per litre for unleaded and 154.9 for diesel. The Shell Garage half a mile away up Bath Row on the corner of Bishopsgate Street was the same price when it is usually cheaper. Both garages are inside the Clean Air Zone, launched by Birmingham City Council in June 2020 and which charges motorists with non-compliant cars (an estimated one in four) ?8 per day to cross the middle ring road.
On March 25, 2020 during the early part of the first lockdown for Covid-19, prices went back down below ?1 at the Murco garage near to the Maypole.

Bangor farmer Dafydd Wynn Williams feels he has been unfairly treated by North Wales Police following reports of a firearms incident near his property. He claims armed officers removed guns from his property late in an evening despite no proof he was responsible for any wrong doing. The 82 year old widower of Pant y Cyff farm, Pentir, was left very upset and frightened by the incident. Photo by Ian Cooper
