Jonathan Charles as Wheeliam presents a meal to Nicholas Richardson as Beast
This Christmas, the New Vic Theatre takes the classic story of Beauty and the Beast back to its roots, for a magical retelling of the much-loved classic, from Friday 26 November 2021 to Saturday 29 January 2022.
Directed by New Vic Artistic Director Theresa Heskins (The 39 Steps; Olivier Award-winning The Worst Witch; The Snow Queen, UK Theatre Award Best Show for Children and Young People) this production will bring together the creative team behind previous New Vic shows The Prince and the Pauper, The Borrowers and Treasure Island. Following in the tradition of the New Vic? hugely successful festive productions, this adaptation of Beauty and The Beast has sought inspiration from the original versions of the tale to retell this magical story in the New Vic? unique style

16 Days of Action is the annual campaign which highlights efforts to eradicate violence against women and children. The council is involved at a local level alongside the police and various third sector partners such as West Lothian Women? Aid.
Usually they tend to have a march down from Howden Park Centre to the Civic Centre but this is still off the cards this year.
However they are having a ?ally?at the front of the civic centre of around 50 people with speakers planned to address the crowd. Normally local politicians and figures from the third sector attend.
My understanding is that the event will start at around 10.30 and I think you?e talking about one hour max following this.
At 10.45 there should be a performance by a piper from the West Lothian Schools Pipe Band followed by a series of speeches from 10.55-11.20. During this time there will also be a minutes silence and the 16 days of action flag will be raised.
In terms of speakers you?e got:
The Provost, Tom Kerr
Depute Council Leader, Kirsteen Sullivan
Senior Social Policy Manager, Tim Ward
