Year 3 pupils from St Gregory? Catholic Academy, were invited to start the festive season by singing Christmas songs and carols at the Pepper Mill, Longton. The manager, Chelsea, invited the pupils and parents to attend the venue to sing carols, songs and enjoy some festive food.
Music is an important curriculum subject at St Gregory?, where there are many opportunities for children to enjoy and love their musical talents, such as, a recorder club, Songbirds and various instruments lessons provided by Stoke City Music School. In January, approximately 50 children will be receiving instrument lessons, such as the ukulele, violin, trombone, flute, saxophone, guitar and piano. Mrs Brickley, Headteacher, is Grade 8 violinist, who actively encourages this curriculum area and for children, including her own son, to learn the skill of playing a musical instrument.
Learning to play a musical instrument and to have the love of music benefits any individual in all aspects of life both academically and emotionally. The school would like to thank the Pepper Mill for this wonderful experience today.
