NET today (Thursday 16th December) named one of Nottingham? trams in honour of Sir Martyn Poliakoff - a celebrated professor at the University of Nottingham, a global leader in science, and a familiar face to millions worldwide through his hit YouTube science videos.
The Martyn Poliakoff tram was unveiled today on his 74th birthday in a special ceremony at NET? Wilkinson Street depot where Sir Martyn, his wife and guests gathered to see the tram for the first time.

The garden at the bottom of the Strand in Longton has being developed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council on derelict land will feature a memorial to the First World War.

Proposals for the site were first put forward by Longton Community Partnership (LCP) three years ago, and cash was secured from the council's community investment fund.
