Old Clarice Cliff shards found in secret location have been made in new artworks
Original Clarice Cliff shards hand painted by Clarice and the Bizarre Girls have been found at a secret location on the site of the old Newport Pottery in Middleport.
Philip Hardaker is working with the find to create a unique and bespoke set of art wall sculptures to celebrate Clarice Cliff whilst marking the recent interest in her story from the film The Colour Room now showing on Sky and in selected cinemas.
One of the rare and selected large bespoke artworks is now available at Barewall in Burslem.
Gallery owner Amanda Bromley 54 shows off the unique piece. She says "It's wonderful to hold this piece of art made from original ceramics found on the Clarice Cliff factory site. As a Middleport girl who was raised in the same street that the factory stood I find it very moving. To think that Stoke on Trent has such treasures under our feet and to see these original hand painted shards emerge as new collectable art by Hardaker feels representative of a new colourful and bright Stoke on Trent emerging built on its heritage foundations."
